Unbound

So many miles and so much time
from that first step to this:
a constant walking, seeking for what?
A clue, a job, a mate, a guru.

You have come so far and accomplished exactly nothing.
Whatever you have done, the things you accumulate:
conquests, properties, titles, degrees, friends, followers, legacy
only matter to those left behind.

The things don’t matter.
They are like your body: terminal.

It all ends, doesn’t it?
Does it matter how, or when, or under what circumstances, really?
Does it matter how the material stuff is dealt with?

You’ve changed clothes or form or station or being or at least location.
If there’s anything left to you at all.
Jury’s still out on that one,
but every time we send someone to check they don’t come back.

Aren’t you tired yet?

There’s nothing to look for out there.

You’re already home.
